C.Editions and The Monira Foundation at MANA Contemporary Chicago is hosting a screening of a truly unique film.
Over and Over, Again and Again by Allen Ruppersberg. Made in 2019, the running time for the film is a continuous 12 hours. The subject of the film is the obsession of collecting and what that might sound like. Ruppersberg created the original soundtrack from his collection of historic 33 1/3, 45 and 78rpm records. The film was first shown at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles on the occasion of the artist’s retrospective – INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 1968-2019. The retrospective was curated by Siri Engberg at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. The exhibition opened there in 2018 and traveled to the Hammer Museum in 2019.
The film posits that everything is NOT the same when you truly look and listen closely.
