Accessibility

1

Monira Foundation welcomes all and is happy to accommodate all visitors when they visit or participate in our exhibitions, residencies, and public programs. Here is a list of what you can expect in a visit.

Jersey City

Getting here
888 Newark Ave. From public transportation, it is an easy ten-minute walk from the Journal Square PATH station. If you are driving, we have a free public parking lot on our campus—quick access from the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Entrance
When you arrive on campus, the entrance to Monira, inside Mana Contemporary, is directly from the parking lot. Our program spaces are in the basement, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. (Downloadable maps available below)

Wheelchair and Mobility
Every space on site is designed for wheelchair access. Wheelchair ramps begin from the parking lot and move into the building. Two passenger elevators are on site, and one freight elevator is available on weekdays from 8:30 to 4. All hallways and doorways are wide and easily navigated with moving devices like wheelchairs, canes, and walkers.  A portable ramp is also available if any barriers are encountered. Guide animals are welcome; if assistance is needed to navigate the grounds, we are happy to offer it.

Restrooms
Accessible, single-user/all-gender restrooms are located on the basement, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors, where Monira Programming takes place.

Chicago

Getting here
2233 S Throop. Monira Foundation has free public parking and bike racks on its campus. It is also accessible via public transportation. The two most common access are:

a. —- Take the Red Line train to the Cermak-Chinatown stop, then take the Cermak bus (21 bus) Westbound and get off at Throop St.

b. —- Take the Ashland bus (9 bus) to Cermak, then take the Cermak bus (21 bus) Eastbound to Throop St. It is an easy walk from Ashland to Throop (maybe a quarter mile) if waiting for the Cermak bus becomes cumbersome.

Entrance
The entrance to Monira, inside Mana Contemporary, is on the east side of the building and is directly accessible from the parking lot. Our program spaces are on the 5th and 6th floors. (Downloadable maps will be available soon)

Wheelchair and Mobility
There is wheelchair access from the parking lot into the building on the east side of the building. Call 312 850 0555 to access it so building security can open the door. One freight elevator is on site, available 24/7, and run by Mana Contemporary employees. All hallways and doorways are wide and easily navigated with moving devices like wheelchairs, canes, and walkers. Guide animals are welcome; if assistance is needed to navigate the grounds, we are happy to offer it.

Restrooms
Accessible, single-user/all-gender restrooms are located on the 5th and 6th floors, where Monira Programming takes place.
