Jonas Mekas Pocket Gala

You are invited to our Jonas Mekas Pocket Gala Thursday May 6th at 7pm. This virtual event will feature an intimate evening with the Jonas Mekas Studio. Presented in partnership with Sebastian Mekas and Phong Bui, from the Brooklyn Rail, you will get a chance to see inside Jonas’ Studio space at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City and take close looks at special collection pieces closely over zoom!
The evening will be packed with incredible moments including a special tour led by Sebastian Mekas, peeks at the editing table Jonas worked at, and close up views on original poems written by Jonas in the 40’s. You will also get to enjoy a rare reading of Jonas’ poetry by none other than Anne Waldman, Paolo Javier, and Vincent Katz!
Tickets are $50 & $100 and can be purchased through the link below. In addition to getting to know Jonas’ work better in the intimate tour, each $100 ticket will come with a limited edition art print mailed directly to you.
Every dollar raised in this event will go towards the support of Monira Foundation programs which include the Jonas Mekas Open Archives and the upcoming 2022 Jonas Mekas Centennial! Your support matters and will help build free public access to Jonas’ work and our other programs as well as a strong foundation for our growing art community.
