Featuring: Matt Austin
Matt Austin is an arts worker, bookbinder, designer, and publisher who is in the midst of relocating to Los Angeles and is also still learning.
He is interested in building systems of care that support artists facing many kinds of capitalist oppression—he has engaged in this work as a co-founder of LATITUDE (2012), staff person at ACRE Artist Residency (2012-2015), founder of The Chicago Perch (2012-2015), founder of Candor Arts (2015-2021), as well as his most recent studio project For the Birds Trapped in Airports (2022). He has been working with books, furniture, and education in his creative efforts for the past several years. Matt is currently a member of the Candor Collective, for which For the Birds Trapped in Airports is an active resource.
