The third installment in a pilot series of ATTENTION LABS dedicated to the collective practice and reclamation of radical human attention. These Labs are our response to the predation of the “Attention Economy,” a trillion-dollar industry that seeks to monetize our every waking moment and frack human eyeballs for commercial gain.
Each of our ATTENTION LAB workshops will convene participants for ninety minutes over the course of Saturday, July 30th. The curriculum will center discussions and experimental practices in attention under the guidance of attention activists, artists and scholars. The schedule is as follows:
10:00am. Introduction to Attention Activism
10:30am-12:00pm. The History of the Attention Economy
12:15pm-1:45pm. Art and Attention: The Protocol of the Shutter
2:00pm. Break for lunch
3:00pm-4:30pm. Attention and Urban Life: How to Live in a Place
4:45pm-6:15pm. Attention, Friendship, Politics: An Exercise in Radical Listening
6:15pm-7:00pm. Collective Experiments in the Future of Attention Activism
Labs are free and welcome to all.
