ATTENTION LABS are community-based, youth-oriented workshops that focus on the power, beauty, and potential of human attention — and on the new challenges that confront us in a world of increasingly financialized attentional resources (and the algorithms that “frack” our eyes and minds). A non-profit project, organized by artists, educators, and digital activists, ATTENTION LABS are spaces for exploration and experimentation.
This March, we’re partnering with the AYN Foundation’s exhibition of the work of Andy Warhol, which profoundly influenced (and subverted) contemporary visual culture. We will explore what makes an image POP, and who benefits. The aim? To draw attention to attention — and in doing so, to make the world a better place!
About Discovering AYN:
Discovering AYN is a monthly program presented by Monira Foundation that welcomes the public into AYN Foundation long term presentations at Mana Contemporary to further learn and experience the practice of their featured artists through the scope of other artists and the multiple languages of art.
About Friends of Attention:
We live in an “Attention Economy,” a trillion-dollar industry that seeks to monetize our every waking moment and “frack” human eyeballs for commercial gain.
In a world where ATTENTION, our most precious human asset, is bought and sold by powerful and often invisible actors, and where technological change has outpaced our ability to adapt to changing social conditions, we find ourselves with ever-fewer tools and spaces to collectively imagine the world we wish to inhabit.
In response, we, the Friends of Attention, an underground network of creatives, educators and actual friends who share an interest in the puzzles and promises of the attentive mind and the directed senses, resent to you the…ATTENTION LABS.
Don't miss out on new events, programs, and artist opportunities!
