Allen Ruppersberg: Landfall Press, ETC Editions and IC Editions

February 6 @ 10:00 am - April 6 @ 4:00 pm EST

About Allen Ruppersberg

Conceptual artist Allen Ruppersberg (American, b.1944) is known for his philosophical approach to art. He explores language as a means of expression. Working in a variety of media, including painting, photography, printmaking, books, sculpture, and installation, Ruppersberg draws inspiration from mass media and consumerism, critically assessing the inescapable relationship between vernacular objects and popular culture. He was one of the major practitioners of installation art, exploring themes of everyday life, cultural mythologies, and societal narratives.

About Landfall Press

Fifty years in the making, Landfall Press: Five Decades is an American story; a story of art historical significance and entrepreneurial influence. It is also the story of one man’s life and his dedication to personal integrity and professional excellence.

Jack Lemon is at the center of the story. His five-decade journey to build a business predicated on collaborative relationships is part biography and part business plan laid bare. It’s a unique template for a creative life that celebrates the ultimate – a business and life that combine one’s personal passion with a legacy of true significance for generations to come.

The Milwaukee Art Museum recognized the significance of Landfall Press by acquiring the Landfall Press Print Archive in 1992. The exhibition that opens in October 2019 is curated by Jack Lemon, Thomas Cvikota and Nikki Otten, Associate Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The exhibition will feature sixty works, spanning fifty years of Jack Lemon’s collaborative history, with an emphasis on Landfall Press publications and print innovations, including works published in 2019.
