Dan Flavin

Maker Space- Flavin in Motion 72ppi square

Join us on Saturday, April 20 for a Maker Space activity for families: Flavin in Motion, a collective art project in connection with the permanent art presentation of Dan Flavin.

In this Maker Space activity, we will explore ways of seeing and drawing the space around us while incorporating elements in motion, in dialogue with the fluorescent lights installations of Dan Flavin. This activity is designed in collaboration with artist, educator and researcher doctor Silvia Capelo, whose research practice focuses on the implementation of experiential learning and Community Art teaching methodologies in art education.

Our Maker Space program offers an iterative series of workshops for families with a focus on experiential learning through art making in connection to the artworks exhibited in our galleries. In these workshops, children have the opportunity to learn about the characteristics of different materials to create visual representations based on themes and concepts discussed in each session. Educational Guides of the activities are available during workshops as well as on our website, which can be downloaded. These guides are created to provide additional support to families and educators as they can be developed in different locations with the necessary modifications. These activities are developed by Monira Foundation in connection with our public programs and exhibitions.
