The Big Sky by Mary Griffin

April 11 @ 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm UTC-5

Mana Contemporary Chicago

2233 S Throop Street Chicago, IL 60608

8th floor 1:30-2:00pm

Join us for the opening of Mana Contemporary Chicago Highlight, featuring Mary Griffin and the work The Big Sky.

Mary Griffin presents a large scale painting, approximately five feet high by seven feet wide, as an installed work. The piece reflects her engagement with painting as a physical performance of gesture, shaped through an active process of navigating multiple forms of expression in the studio.

The work is part of a broader body of large scale paintings that emphasize the bodily dimension of mark making and the accumulation of material. This painting incorporates acrylic paint, a silk bandana embedded within the stretched canvas, and oil pastels. These elements create a layered surface that registers movement, pressure, and material tension within the installed form.
