Presented by Monira Foundation:
Take a look at the studio of Erick Alejandro Hernandez at the Monira Foundation! Hernández is an artist who explores how traditional techniques like oil painting and drawing can be transformed to hold and express complex personal and collective histories.
Hernández’s paintings often revolve around central narrative events, such as a car crash or the death of a loved one, serving as investigative allegories of grief, assimilation, and exile. His practice draws on memory, storytelling, and the weight of lived experience to reshape the surface of painting into a space for reflection and resistance.
